Dubai government has given utmost importance to children with special needs. Dubai believes in providing educational support, rehabilitation and psychological therapies to all special needs children. The emphasis is also on providing emotional, social and psychological support to parents.
There are several schools and institutes in Dubai that offer such kind of support to children with special needs and to their parents as well. The following are some of the special needs schools and support groups in Dubai.
The Al Noor training center was started in 1981 and since then it has been offering special education, vocational training and support to people with special needs.
It follows the individual education plan (IEP) for each child and provides academics, but also self-help and motor skills, socialization, language development, vocational training and other extra-curricular and leisure activities.
The center provides specialist autistic services, speech therapy, physiotherapy, occupational therapy and psychotherapy. An afternoon program is also offered between 2.30 to 4.00 pm on Saturdays and Mondays.
The Dubai autism center is a non-profit organization catering to the needs of autistic persons. It aims at creating awareness about autism among people and also helps people diagnose autism at an early stage.
DAC believes in holistic approach and individualized education plan for each child. They provide different kinds of intervention approaches depending on a child’s behavior. They also have a family support club for parents, the main services of which include counseling, support and education.
DUBAI CENTER FOR SPECIAL NEEDS:
The Dubai center for special needs is a non-profit organization providing special education, vocational training and required therapeutic intervention to children with disabilities. The institute caters to the needs of children with learning disabilities, hearing impairment, autism, Down’s syndrome and cerebral palsy. The institute provides high quality special education programs, training, and social support to individuals and families.
DUBAI COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTER:
Dubai community health center is a private non-profit organization established in 1994. The aim of the center was to help families of children with special needs and learning disabilities by providing them information, conducting workshops and seminars on skills and techniques, and psychological understanding of these children from infancy to adult age.
They provide speech therapy, occupational therapy, educational programs, counseling, yoga, breathing techniques, and homoeopathy for children with special needs.
The Rashid pediatric therapy center is a humanitarian organization inaugurated in 1994. It aims to provide high quality, integrated education services and therapies for children with special needs.
The center offers programs for children who have moderate to severe learning difficulties. They believe in a holistic approach working on all aspects of child development. Classes are provided in both Arabic and English languages.
Takamul is a government of Dubai project, which endeavors to be the apex body for disability in the country. Takamul aims at providing screening, early diagnosis and interventions, along with education and guidance, from schooling to employment, for all for individuals with special needs.
It is collaborating with international agencies to provide research-based programs, technical assistance, training and education to meet the requirements of the individuals with special needs and their families.

Tamkeen provides training courses to visually challenged individuals in various fields like information technology training, soft skills and English language training. Tamkeen also provides after- training support through career guidance and by creating employment opportunities.
